The SVYSL All-Star program is by INVITATION ONLY. U8 and U10 players from the fall season are nominated by their fall coach to attend tryouts. After tryouts, the all-star committee will meet with divisional commissioners and All-Star coaches to select players from the All-Star list of nominated players who tried out. Those selected to participate will be notified by telephone and/or email. All-Star nominations should be viewed as an honor and your child should be proud of this achievement. They were nominated and selected because their coach viewed them as a great athlete and team player.
What is the All-Star program?
The All-Star program is a soccer program for players who are willing to commit to playing after the main fall season. Selected players will have higher level skill sets and a competitive desire to play in games and tournaments with the best soccer players from other recreational leagues.
How are Coaches & Players Selected?
Coaches are selected by the SVYSL Board of Directors. All Star coaches typically have a higher level of experience in competitive play and have commissioner recommendations.
Player Eligibility
Players must have played in the Fall season. Coaches recommend their top players and the All-Star Coach holds 1-2 tryout sessions and selects 11-14 players to form an All-Star roster.
How long does the All-Star season last?
The 2025 All-Star season will run from December through February. This includes practices, tournaments and round robin play; depending on the division. This includes 2 tournaments for U10 and 1 tournament for U8, plus a day of local friendly matches in round-robin format for all divisions. The tournaments we will participate in for 2024-2025 are:
- (U8 Boys and U10 Boys) 2025 Annual Christmas Classic AYSO Open Invitational Tournament: December 20-21 (Torrance)
- (U10 Boys & U10 Girls) Cal South All Stars Recreational Tournament: Jan 17-18, 2026; SilverLakes Sports Complex (Norco)
- (U10 Girls) Winterfest 2026: February 28 - March 1, 2026 (Santa Clarita)
- (U8 Boys, U10 Boys and U10 Girls) Round Robin games: February (specific date TBD)
How much does it cost?
U8 Boys fee is $100. U10 Boys & U10 Girls fee is $150. Fees include tournament registrations, referee fees and an All-Star commemorative hoodie. Fall season uniforms will be used for All-Star games, so there are no additional uniform fees. NOTE: FEES DO NOT INCLUDE TRAVEL AND HOTEL
Registration must be completed by December 18th!
What is the time commitment for players and their families?
To join an All-Star team, we ask players and parents to commit to 1-2 practices (60-90-minutes) a week and attend all tournaments/friendlies.
